Economic issues are very important during any US election. It is important to those running for an office and of course it is important to those voting. Unfortunately lately, it seems that this issue is only truly important to voters and not truly important to candidates. Perhaps it has always been this way?
Every time there is an election, voters are almost certain to hear candidates state that they are running for the office to make life easier for their constituents.
They are looking to create jobs, lower taxes and fight corporate crime. Those are very noble causes, however it does not seem to be the true intention of candidates.
Politics is a game and anyone thinking otherwise is mistaken. Of course it is not always just a game. 9/11 did not start out as a game, though somehow it turned to it down the road.
It is a hope that politicians take their vows seriously. It seems that voters are becoming more and more concerned that their voices are not being heard or that politicians are dismissing them.
Every election since Obama took office have been some sort of a referendum on how the current administration and congress are dealing with their duties and following through on their promises.
This is not to suggest that current administration is bad or good, it just seems that voter are finally beginning to use their voice to express concern and dissatisfaction with both Democrats and Republicans who have not done what their promised or have not been listening to their voters.
If we are in fact seeing a turn in how voters behave perhaps we will soon see politicians behave differently. A good economy for one is a very important part of the stable society.
Look at Ukraine or Kirgizstan. Economies there have led people to stand up and ask for change. Unfortunately, change may not be always better but it will likely keep going until there is stability.
Look at Russia where even though there are some things that are perhaps not being done appropriately by the current government, but at least many people (such as retirees and the new generation) are in the better condition than previously.
America is at that tip of the cliff and if economic picture does not get better it will most likely lead to social unrest and that is one thing no government wants.
For the past year or so people have been speaking through their votes for political candidates and yes there have been a growing number of demonstration.
Fortunately all of them have been peaceful. However politicians are playing with fire and need to take their jobs and responsibilities more seriously.
America is a great country, but political games have tarnished it reputation and social standing over the past decade or so. It is time voters speak louder and politicians become more responsible if their want this country to continue to prosper.
