Art glass and decorative glassware are popular interior design accessories that bring iridescence and magical artistry to a home décor. Colorful bottles that can be displayed in various rooms as a part of an eclectic decorating theme combine modern decorating trends with traditional glassware design. Decorative glassware has been a popular interior design accessory for centuries. The elaborate shapes, brilliant shades of color and dramatic iridescence make decorating with glass bottles an intriguing design project.

Before displaying any type of bottled glassware, it is important to wash the labels off the glass. If a bottle is a collectible or is highly priced for its designer name, keep the sticker on the bottle, but turn it to where the sticker is not facing outward. Most decorative bottles come with price tags that should be removed before placing them on display. Even though brand new glassware is highly coveted, don’t be afraid to invest in vintage or classical glass bottles. These can often be found at flea markets and antique stores.

In order to keep a magical interior design element, select glass bottles with unique shapes. Some glass bottles have a true bottleneck, and others have an oblong or hourglass shape. Choose bottles that have a variety of shapes but color coordinate with one another. The mixing and matching of glassware keeps an interior design looking modern and eclectic. To avoid clutter, choose glass bottles that harmonize with one another and limit the number of bottles to three or five. Varying sizes, shapes and colors can be used to create visual interest and designer friendly appeal.

If the bottles are usable and are not for display only, add one or two fresh flowers and a small amount of water in each one. Fresh flowers brighten any room décor and they draw attention to the colorful bottles. If fresh flowers are too high maintenance or are too likely to damage the integrity of the artistic glassware, don’t use flowers at all. Fake flowers and dried flowers reduce the visual appeal of the bottled glassware. In general, yellow and red flowers look especially vibrant and eye appealing in blue glass bottles.

In order to strategically display the glass bottles, organize them bottles on a table or a shelf. The assortment of bottles can be arranged on a wrought iron shelf, wooden bookcase, accent table or fireplace mantle. Place the taller bottles behind the shorter ones in arrangements of three or five. Hang a brightly colored picture or lean a black and white image on the wall behind the flowers to draw out the beauty of the colors in the glassware.

Colorful glass bottles are artistic accessories in a home design. Their visual appeal creates interest and beauty in a room design. Proper organization and display of these pieces of glassware make a grand statement in any interior design.
