Recipes: Apple pie

by Taylor Zambito

Created on: May 23, 2010

This apple pie is a sure winner for anyone who loves pie or baking them.  Its simplicity makes it easy for someone to bring to an event or an after dinner dessert.

The recipe contains these certain items: 4 golden Delicious apples , a pre-made pie crust, sugar, cinnamon, brown sugar, granulated sugar, butter, salt, knife,  rolling pin, apple corer, and all purpose flour .

Step 1. Begin by pre-heating your oven to 425 degrees

Step 2. Mix 1/2 cup of sugar, 3 TBS. of all purpose  flour, 1/8 TSP if salt, and 1 TSP of cinnamon in a large bowl.

Step 3. Peel 4 golden Delicious Apples and using your apple corer cut the apples. Then start cutting the apple chunks vertically to get the desired shape of the apple piece. Place all the finished apple slices into the bowl with the Step 2 mixture. Mix the apples and the mixture and put it into your pre-made pie crust.

Step 4. In another bowl combine 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 1 Cup of all purpose flour, and a 1/2 cup of butter. Begin mixing with your hands until the mixture becomes into a dough.

Step 5. Use a rolling pin to flatten out your dough. (Hint: sprinkle flour on the top of where you are rolling the dough so it does not stick). Use a knife cut pieces of the dough long enough to fit the top of your pie. Place down all the strands on the top of the pie to make a checkered pattern.

Step 6. Cover the pie with foil, put it on a baking sheet, and put it in your oven for 40 mins.

When done baking take it out and let it cool for at least an hour. Serve this with ice cream or cool whip if desired. Enjoy.
