The search for the best tasting apple can be a tedious one. I have compiled a very short list of the best apples out there.

My #1 pick: JONAGOLD. These apples vary in color but are usually a mix between green, yellow, and red. They are sweet, with a hint of tartness, and are crisp (you can hear that appetizing crunch when you bite into it).

#2: FUJI. If you like sweet apples without any tartness then Fuji is the way to go. These apples are the same color as Jonagold, and they are crisp and sweet (without tartness).

#3: GALA. These apples are like Fuji apples, but less sweet. They are are still crisp, but they don't have the extremely sweet taste of the Fuji. Gala apples are better as a snack, while Fuji apples are better as a dessert.

I must add what I believe is the worst apple in existence: RED DELICIOUS. Don't let the name fool you. These apples have a gorgeous red color, but are lacking in crispness and sweetness. If it IS sweet, it tastes as though it has been sitting out in the sun getting oxidized. These apples are mealy, and eating them is reminiscent of eating cotton balls. There is no crunch to look forward to. Instead the apple seems to give up and cave in, with an equally defeated sound created when you bite into it. I definitely do not recommend these apples.
