The future of mankind is dismal at best. War, hunger, greed, poverty and cruelty, to name a few, will be our undoing. You may counter with the fact that these things have been going on since the dawn of man - and you would be right, with one exception.
Since the beginning of time, man has struggled with these inanities only because they were evolving. Many of them had to fight for their very survival.
We have no excuse today. We should have learned from our predecessors, yet we continue to display barbarism, and to what end? There is no need for war and the only reason we do it is for ultimate power.
Ultimate power is what keeps this planet in constant stalemate. Everyone wants what the other guy has and they are willing to kill for it.
There is no need for hunger but the war-mongers will take for themselves, while everyone else starves. Take the land, crops and water away from the people so they have no power, strength or voice.
Manipulation by greed and force is the order of the day while the vast majority suffer from illness and deprivation.
The cliche 'Why can't we all just get along' is a good question. Why can't we? Have we learned nothing from our past?
As a unified species, the problems mankind faces could be solved and resolved. If we can unite when major disasters strike, as in the case of the Haitian earthquake, what would be the difference in resolving the worlds issues?
We have technology and resources to make it happen. What those in charge fail to realize is that as a united effort, everyone would benefit from the outcome.
There would be more to go around, more productivity and more wealth for everyone. If the greatest minds on this planet cannot implement the solutions to the problems, then there is no point to our existence.
There have been amazing advancements in medicine that have advanced life expectancy. We have travelled to the moon and expanded our expectations of inhabiting other planets. Technology has allowed us to look inside the human brain and yet we cannot seem to solve the simplest problems.
If we as the human race cannot work together for the benefit of all, then there is no future for mankind. The outlook for man will be the destruction and the death of this planet and everything on it.
