Story
Warning: The text below contains details of the storyline and/or result of the story.
The movie takes place in Hazzard County and it is about cousins Bo and Luke Duke. They are in charge of a business of selling homemade liquor for their uncle Jesse. They are doing this together with their cousin Daisy. Their main form of transport is a Dodge Charger from 1969. It is nicknamed "The General Lee". The Duke family is an eyesore for the police force of Hazzard and of the County Commissioner Boss Hogg.
Because of Boss Hogg and Sheriff Rosco Coltrane, the Dukes lose their farm and must move to their neighbors. They get lucky that their neighbor Pauline is a girlfriend of uncle Jesse. Pauline knows that Rosco has also seized farms from other people. When Bo and Luke examine the matter, they discover that Boss Hogg has recently found valuable raw materials on the territory of all these farms and wants to open a mine there. Officially, the residents of Hazzard are able to protest against these plans, but Boss Hogg has made a plan that the day on which this protest can be submitted coincides with a large race in Hazzard. Because everyone will be distracted by the race nobody will submit an objection and he will be able to realize his own plans. To gain extra publicly, he persuaded a famous driver (Billy Prickett) to take part of the race.
Bo and Luke are locked up in the prison, but Daisy helps them escape.
Rosco takes Jesse and Pauline hostage to keep the Dukes busy. Bo and Luke ensure a distraction while Daisy and car mechanic Cooter save Jesse and Pauline. Bo goes to the race to make sure that the residents are warned while Luke and Jesse are busy to distract the police. Bo takes part in the race unintentionally. He wins the race and finally is able to warn the residents of Hazzard. Everyone hurries to the council-house to protest against the exploitation of mineral deposits. The governor of Georgia, who was also present at the race, forgives the Dukes for their crimes and gives them back their farm.
