Jesus is the Son of God and Savior of mankind. He had to die on the cross to forgive our sins and give eternal life to those who believe on his name. He is God and the universe was created by him. The only way we can go to Heaven is through him and no other.
The term Son of God is not exact. He had no beginning and will never end. The more correct term is physical manifestation of God. But since simple people can't grasp such a concept, calling him the Son of God will do.
He was fully God and fully man when he lived among his people the Jews. If he were not God he couldn't do the miracles he did or have the knowledge and wisdom he demonstrated. But if he were not man, the miracles he did would have been more spectacular. He wouldn't have just stilled the sea. It would have frozen solid and the atmosphere would have been ripped open and cosmic rays would have struck the earth. The people he healed or raised from the dead would have been given perfect bodies and would have been alive today. The blind might have gone insane because they would have been able to see all the spectrum of light and possibly other dimensions. Such an ability would have driven people mad. And it could be that the people he fed would have never needed to eat again.
Jesus didn't come to earth to free the Jews of Rome. If he had, he could have called down the legions of Heaven to destroy the Roman Empire. He came to fulfill the Scriptures about suffering on the cross and shedding his blood to cover our sins. Only when he returns to destroy the forces of the Antichrist at the Battle of Armageddon will he be the conquering Messiah the Jews have longed for for centuries.
The Jehovah Witnesses try to deny Jesus is God. But they forgot to exclude the verse in their Bible that indicate that Jesus is God. Islam tries to make Jesus another god with God the Father and the Holy Spirit being two other gods. But Jesus is God just as much as the Father is God and the Holy Spirit is God. They are all three incorporated into the same person. God is like a TV program with Jesus being the equipment and studio for the program and the broadcast signal of the program being the Holy Spirit. Without all three elements, the program could not be seen. Only Christians, like the TVs tuned to the program, can be controlled by the Holy Spirit.
New York City might have 15 million TVs that can all receive a single program. But maybe 150,000 might be tuned to it. The same is true for believers. The Spirit is available to all people. But only those who are believers have the Spirit working in them. A person can say Jesus is in their heart and they will be correct because Jesus and the Holy Spirit are two of the elements of the same person; God.
