Online business: Build a reputation

Once you or your company have started online activity, you will find yourself in a situation where you try to build up a reputation, a ranking and the most important thing: a brand. It is not an easy task, but it can be done with consistent work.

There are several ways, tools and companies which help you improve your search engine's ranking, but don’t forget that ranking top will only attract new visitors. But a new visitor does not mean that it attracts new customers.

To help improve the statistics of conversion from visitor to customer I advise you to check what could improve your trust rank in your customer's eye. There are some little tricks which can help you improve your trust rank:

The first task you need to complete when starting to raise your business trust rank, although you might find it a little bit funny, is to check other businesses from your niche; buy their products, their services, take part as customer in their life without having any kind of bad influence on their brand. Try to look at their services as you were a customer and not a rival company. Analyze each move they are performing to improve your services. This way you will open some point of view of how your customers look at your services, you might find some quite weak points of your system.

To have a more accurate picture about how your customers look at your business try to use social networking as advertising for your company products and news about your services. It will help you look into your customers' feedback. Don’t forget that creating a big picture about what they think about your services means you need to keep them informed and the simplest way is to have them follow you on different social networks (like Facebook, Twitter, etc.), where you can publish your latest news and promotions.

The third and in my opinion the most important task to improve your reputation is to respond fast to the gathered feedback. Improve your services and products as any kind of information comes in regarding a weak spot. Not only it will improve the way your customers look at your products, but it will gain you a special “problem solver” title. Also, let us not forget that a happy customer is the best way to advertise your products and services. By paying attention to the way they react to your promotions, news about the niche, you have the opportunity to influence their way of thinking about your business.

Obviously these tricks work for some online businesses but not for all, but the main idea remains the same: don’t forget about the fact that the customer is there in the first place. Happy customers will talk, will keep their friends and family informed about their experiences regarding their experience with your company and it will help you save a quite noticeable investment in advertisement.
