24 Hours too little
I know not what comes tomorrow
So why waste time and worry
The dreams that linger on my lashes today
Before they slide by , I must scurry
Today I am well and alive
I am sane, not out of my mind
Who knows what tomorrow might find
A mind that can't create?
Legs that can't jive?
Eyes that can't envision?
A heart that needs permission?
Skin with lost glow?
Hair that somberly flow?
Can't run from , can't elude age
Once I have finished, can't repeat this page
There is no looking back, I can only go ahead
Today is all I have, yesterday is dead
Tomorrow is uncertain, who knows what it will bring
Flora in winter or frigid disposition in spring?
So why then get frightened of the unknown?
Answers for tomorrow if I could have sworn
Wouldn't I be the maker of this universe?
Wouldn't I control the power to boon or curse?
Egads ! wouldn't that haunt me like a vulture?
To know the time and date of my departure?
I rather know not
And so today is all that I have got
Today I am resilient , I am alive and well
What happens tomorrow , I leave for time to tell
So I embrace today and all it has to offer
Let it go by and I might end up a pauper.
