AS the much anticipated 2 hour 2010 Grey's Anatomy finale finally hits screens, the world holds its collective breath - or at least, that portion of the world that is besotted with Mere and McDreamy, Mark and Lexie, Owen and Cristina, Bailey, Torres, Karev, and the rest of the Seattle Grace gang. Izzy and George may be long gone - but the hits keep coming. The first nine minutes of the show set the stage, culminating with 2 doctors being shot - one presumably fatally.

The finale begins innocuously enough, with the disturbing view of Torres and Yang crying into soggy cereal over their significant others. Cut to Meredith cheerfully taking a pregnancy test - you can tell she already knows the outcome by the complete lack of anxiety. As she exits the bathroom, however, a man passes her in the hall… It's none other than the enraged and grieving widower who blames Derek for pulling the plug on his brain dead wife.

Oblivious, Mere runs to tell Yang she is preggers (instead of letting the father know first - typical of the joined at the hip duo) Cristina responds in typical Yang style by asking if Mere is happy or plans to exercise her 'options'. She has to quickly pretend she was only joking (even though that fools none of us, right?) and the two hug and giggle. Beepers go off, and the two bounce merrily away, congratulating each other on how adult they are.

Back to angry widower, who is looking for the chief of surgery. Karev blows him off, advising him to find a nurse. Arizona and Lexie diagnose a kid while Torres makes sad faces. Teddy and Owen both get paged at the same time- Hunt is annoyed that neither Teddy nor Yang will currently speak to him (not that you can blame them - I mean, make up your mind already. PTSD is no excuse for stringing two different gals along!)

Meanwhile, angry widower dude is getting ticked off at people telling him to go find a nurse when he keeps asking where Shepard is. He finally pulls a gun and nails Dr Reed in the forehead, then turns to catch Karev with a bullet high under the right arm, leaving both to lie in pools of blood as he begins an inexorable march through the hospital on his quest to take McDreamy out once and for all.

Will Karev make it? Will Reed be the only fatality? You'll have to watch to find out! See the first 9 minutes here.
