Becoming a Christian is where God and man meet to reconcile and start a spiritual relationship. The bible talks about the old Adam and the new Adam. The old Adam lives in rebellion and separation from God . The new Adam who is Christ, God’s Son, who lived and forever lives in relationship with God the Father. There was only a brake in that relationship when Christ took our sin and rebellion on Himself. He died for the sin of all of us. But He rose again from the death. His purpose continues is to reconcile those of us who are willing to let Him come into our heart and and have a spiritual relationship with Him. In Christ I am a new Adam who is reconciled and restored with God.
The Fall of Adam was the brake of God’s trust He put in him. God specifically told Adam not to eat from the forbidden fruit. God made it clear to Adam that he surely would die if he ate from the fruit. Satan in the form of a snake deceived Eve and him. Satan told Eve that they would be like God. Adam and Eve ate from the forbidden fruit. He broke the relationship with God because he wanted to be as smart as God rather then follow God. In the old Adam we as individual do many things and act as god of our own live. The old Adam lives in Lust of fleshly desires. The old Adam also tries to please God with religion. Religion does not please God. God wants a relationship with us.
God’s plan for reconciliation is manifested throughout the Old Testament. It came to pass when Christ took our transgressions on Himself. The Messiah was promised right after the fall of Adam. When Christ finally came to this earth he was despised by the religious leaders. He was an unwelcome competition to them. Christ was not interested in man’s religion. He was interested to reconcile us, mankind, to God. Old Adam’s religion and justifying their own righteousness put the savior on the Cross. God foreknew that this would happen. Old Testament prophets told about it. The Sinless Messiah died for the sins of all of us. He is our mediator. When Christ died, our sins died with him. Our flesh (Old Adam) was crucified with Him.
When Christ rose he conquered the spiritual death for us. Christ make it clear in Rev 3:20 that he knocks at the door of our hearts. He wants to come in and have a spiritual relationship with us. All he asks is to open the door. This is the challenge of the will. Many people have hardened hearts and do not let Him in. We do not have to change before we let Him in. He
