It can be frustrating sometimes for non-U.S. based freelance writers to find a site that is legitimate, open for international users, and actually pays writers for their content. Many good writing sites like Ehow and DemandStudios are currently open just for American writers, while U.S.-based sites like Associated Content have closed their doors to international writers. What’s a non-American freelance writer to do?
Lucky for us, there are actually a couple of legitimate content submission websites that do accept and pay for content from non-U.S. writers. Here’s a listing of ten of the most popular:
1) HELIUM
Helium provides multiple earning opportunities for writers, especially if you invest time in building your writing portfolio on the site. You can start earning via revenue share or part of the ad revenues your articles get on the site. Once you’ve earned a writing star, you can earn from Upfront Payments. These can range from $0.50 to $2.50 per article, depending on the number of writing stars you have. You can also look for writing assignments in the Marketplace section, which pays from $5 per article. Helium also gives out between $10 and $50 dollars in its writing contests, and is also generous with bonuses for members writing for new titles ($1) or for those who have earned five writing stars ($3). Helium also has gives members 5% of their referrals’ earnings. Helium accepts original articles with at least 400 words. Articles used elsewhere can still be published in Helium, but Marketplace articles have to be unpublished. Minimum payout via Paypal is at $25.
2) TRIOND
Triond members get paid based on the page views and ad revenues generated by their content. This translates from $0.01 to $2 per 1,000 page views. Triond also gives members 10% of their referral’s earnings. With Triond you can submit not just articles but also poetry, essays, commentary and fiction, without a minimum word count, as long as it is original and not posted or published anywhere else. Once published on Triond, you are free to repost your articles on other sites that accept them. Minimum monthly payout via Paypal is only $0.25.
3) BUKISA
Bukisa pretty much works like Triond. Members are paid for their published content based on the Bukisa Index, which varies monthly and generally depends on page views. Members can also get 25% of their referral’s earnings. Bukisa accepts content that have been posted
