Lipstick - the one beauty product that has always fascinated me. When I was a kid, I used to love watching my mum put on her makeup, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, blush and kohl but no matter what she put on, the look was incomplete unless she applied the lipstick that gave the makeup and finished and beautiful touch! I used to stare with wide eyes as she chose from her collection of lipsticks to decide which one would go best with the eye makeup - mauves, marooons, pinks, browns oh such delicious blend of colors that would glide on smoothly on her beautiful lips and highlight her gorgeous features!
Ever since then I couldn't wait to be 16, because that's when I was promised the first lipstick of my own. When the time actually came I chose a pale pink frosted lipstick by Revlon. I still have that empty tube to remind me of my very first buy. I believe that a lipstick is a major beauty product that can make or break the look on any face. Dark eyes and muted lips while light eyes go well with dramatic lips- this is the rule practiced by one and all. The advent of the lip gloss revolutionized the makeup industry, shimmery shades in all color ranges are available today that g from fruity to trendy and subtle to dramatic in just a swipe of the gloss wand. However a lip gloss does not have staying power as the lipstick and not to forget a lip gloss looks best when applied over a lipstick coat. So we can assume that a lip gloss is kind of dependent on the lipstick to make us look good! Whenever I wear a lip gloss and leave my hair open straight, I always face the nuisance of hair strands sticking to my lips which irritates me to no end, that’s why I usually prefer lipstick to lip gloss when I go out.
If you apply a light coat of clear Vaseline over the lipstick gives it a wonderful sheen and a glossy touch that glamorizes the simplest of faces. My usual makeup agenda includes some dark dusky kohl for my eyes and a pale but shimmery lipstick that completes the look and works great for both work and a party.
Lipsticks are here to stay as the basic beauty treat while lip glosses are simply a complementing product for them. Moreover lip glosses are usually best used by teens and tweens while lipsticks can be used by women from all age groups. The vast variety of colors and shades can be bought according to mood or event requirements.
