I own an Ipod and find it to be a great product. Using the Ipod and Itunes is extremely easy and a great way to use MP3's (or MP4's). However, like any product, there are some critiques.

First, using the wheel system is an intriguing thing. However, sliding your thumb doesn't always produce the desired results. When you click a down button, you know it goes down one item; when you have your thumb on the wheel, it might shift and suddenly be where you don't want it. The wheel does provide a fast scrolling system, it just isn't precise.

The second critique, or consideration when shopping for MP3 players, is the memory. I recieved my 2GB Ipod for christmas (which was an awesome gift!), however, I have filled it's memory. If I want to add more songs, I will have to try and sell this one and then buy another Ipod with more memory. Some MP3 players, though, have a slot where you can add memory cards. That would allow for a cheaper and easier solution to my problem. Of course, planning before-hand can take care of this problem, but you never know if you might need more memory later.

Over all, I find the Ipod to be a great product. Price, uses, and personal taste will make for the final decision among the many great players. Those white earphones might have some influence though!
