In our daily lives, we can become absorbed with our responsibilities and challenges. We feel overwhelmed and think life is too difficult. We may wonder how we are going to get through the day. What we forget is that we have formed our own path.

Yes, life has challenges and sometimes major crises. I am not making light of those or discounting them. However, we always have control over how we choose to handle life’s challenges.

We need a measure of fun daily in our lives. You can sing in the shower, or dance to music. You can make a loving or funny card to give a friend or family member. You can do any number of things. Why do you need fun? Because it will help you, not only physically, but also emotionally and spiritually.

It has been proven that laughter is healthy for us. It gives us energy and enables us to be more loving and caring. Generally, it makes life more enjoyable, and it feeds our creativity and fun-loving abilities.

Sometimes, we are taught that, as adults, we must assume responsibility and care for our families. That is true. But not at the expense of giving up fun and being creative or feeling free. Watch puppies or kittens as they play.

Look at children playing or creating an art project. See the animals and people having fun. Young children and some older adults seem to share that joy. Have you not seen a loving grandparent playing with their grandchild?

Today, look around and find someone or something involved with fun. Then, do at least one thing you enjoy. You can do that, right? Remember, with art, there is no wrong or right. You can dance at home and choose your own style. No one is watching. So, no excuses. Go have fun!

We all have challenges, and sometimes they seem enormous. We wonder if this is a mountain we can climb. It appears insurmountable, with so many barriers to overcome. How can we possibly start our journey? We start with one step. Then another.

We can develop our own map and path; a plan to help us up the mountain. It helps if we are able to see some of the beauty surrounding us. Did someone help us with a task, today? Were there flowers or clouds we noticed? All of these gifts will help make our path a little easier.

For some people, it helps to have a companion to share their journey. Perhaps they want to follow the same path. They may be able to understand your problems. May I suggest someone with a positive attitude who feels that you both can make it to the top?

Celebrate each small victory in some way, and continue your trek. Don’t look back! Focus on making it up the mountain. As you travel, be mindful of what you are learning. What new skills are you acquiring? Are you learning about yourself? Consider the different people you have met. What have you learned about them? Before you know it, you will have reached the top. You did it! Now it is time to really celebrate. Let your dancing begin!
