Rolling Rock extra pale lager, from Latrobe PA, is my poison of choice. Overall it seems like a fairly standard beer; nice and light, reasonably priced. But the Rock is far from a regular bottle of American suds. Before even popping the top you will notice the distinctive label. blue letter on a white background painted on green glass identify your beverage as something special. The mysterious "33" printed on the back leaves everyone (even the brewers) wondering. Does it refer to the 1933 repeal of prohibition? Or is it a not to the freemasons, amongst whom the level 33 is the highest one can attain? I like to believe that it doesn't matter, it's better as a secret.
The taste of rolling rock is what will hook you...remarkably crisp and light enough to drink all night while still retaining a full flavor that beer drinkers crave. Forget about the watered-down flavor of Bud and Miller Products. This is a real beer that almost eludes description...."really good" seems like the best way to convey the taste. If you've never tried it, find a twelve pack somewhere and buy it (or if you're lucky and live near the brewery, find a case). You may want to act fast because word around the campfire is that Anheiser-Busch is purchasing the Latrobe Brewing company, and there's no telling what they'll do to it. Enjoy!
