You wake up, open your bleary eyes, stretch out your arms above your head, you turn your head to look at the clock and realize half the morning has gone. You press the snooze button and think to yourself, I’ll just have five more minutes, then another five, and so on. It’s then all systems go. You realize you just have to get up or you are going to be late, and you race around the house trying to begin your day.
You can train your mind and body into waking up earlier. Firstly ensure you get enough hours of sleep. To do this you need to ensure you are in bed early enough, if you can’t go straight to sleep then reading to relax you is a good idea. Health professionals recommend that adults need to sleep somewhere between 7 – 9 hours per night.
Set your alarm clock for the time you want to get up. Make sure you do not press the snooze button when it wakes you but get your self up and go straight into the shower. Do this daily and you will be surprised at just how little time you will be waking up before the alarm clock goes off. In no time you will be an early riser, get lots done around your home. Also by waking up earlier you will be more tired in the evening so will want to go to bed that little bit earlier. Your body clock will quickly become accustomed to your new lifestyle.
You won’t believe the difference in being a night owl to being a morning person. Mornings are beautiful with the birds singing and the early morning sun. Your mood will change for the better and you will probably never want to wake up late again.
It doesn’t take long to train yourself to wake up earlier and it is well worth the commitment when you begin this routine. Your whole lifestyle will change for the better, you won’t be rushing in the mornings, and you will have time for the most important meal of the day, which of course is breakfast. Your mind will be clearer as you have the time to think about and plan your day, whatever you are doing.
By waking and getting up earlier you are enhancing your day. Your health will benefit, but make sure you are getting enough sleep for you. Sleep is largely an individual need and each individual’s need does vary.
