Leisure is a Right
Setting myself down in a comfy chair
Knowing that the day's work is done
I pick up a fiction novel and read
My mind wanders and my eyes are tired
I wonder what else is left to do
Whether laziness is settling
My tired bones protest
'You've done enough for one day'
I listen but do not hear
'What about the birds' they seem to say
Birds work hard for their food and place
Then, they relax, sing, soar and sleep
Such freedom, such peace
I stop and listen to the stillness
The day's work is done
My bones are deserving
I give in wholly and totally
Leisure is indeed my right
