In the 2007 NCAA Basketball season, Kevin Durant has been the best player, and it's not even that close. He's only a freshman, but he is incredibly talented and is putting up numbers that are unmatched throughout the nation, and doing it while being the focus of everyone's defense in the tough Big 12.
For the season, Durant is averaging about 25 points and 11 rebounds per game, incredible numbers for a freshman. Even more amazing, those numbers have actually gone up in conference play. And he's not forcing shots to do this either. He's about a 48% shooter from the field, including 80% from the FT line and 40% from the 3-Point Line.
He's a very versatile scorer who can score in a multitude of ways. If he has a big man on him, he's athletic enough to drive right by him. If he's got a smaller defender on him, he can post him up and use a variety of moves from there. No matter who is on him, if they're back off too much, he can pull the trigger from anywhere on the court.
But his game is not all about scoring. He is 4th in the nation with over 11 rebounds per game. Despite having the ball a lot he averages less than 3 turnovers per game. He's not the most sound defensive player yet, but he still averages almost 2 blocks and 2 steals per game.
Add it all ip, and Kevin Durant is the best NCAA player in the nation.
