Memorial Day has long been the mark of summer fun to come. Adults and children alike forward to the fun the extended weekend brings. Families will use this time to embark on a short family vacation, enjoying the opportunity to create new traditions to be shared for years to come. With this in mind, it can be difficult to decide how a family should spend their Memorial Weekend. Here are some great mini-vacations for 2010.
Road Trip. This can be a lot of fun if you all to make frequent stops along the journey. Anytime someone in the car sees something of interest, pull over and go exploring. Some of the greatest excitements come from unexpected places. Just be sure to budget wisely. The cost of gas alone has the potential to add up to a large expense on this trip.
Visit out of town relatives. This can be very budget friendly because if your relatives have the extra room to house you, hotel fees won’t deplete your fun budget. Some out of town relatives love to cook and have family dinners as well, which also aids in keeping more money in your pocket. Just make sure to include your loving relatives in your fun adventures. After all, don’t go just to use them.
Camping. Many families love to spend time in the great outdoors. Children especially will love this idea. Go the distance with the idea. Make sure you buy the essentials to roast marshmallows and enjoy s'mores. Children and parents both will remember the memories created around the campfire.
Enjoy the Lake. Water is loved by many. The fun increases when you add a boat, fishing gear, and other fun water accessories. Spending time on the lake with give everyone a chance to relax and soak in some sunshine. This will make going back to work on the following Tuesday a little more bearable. Just make sure you do not over-expose yourself to the sunlight, or sunburn may make going to work a little more painful.
Since 2010 was filled with economic turmoil, many families still are trying to recover from the economic downturn. This means mini-vacations need to be budget friendly without being boring. Any of the listed vacations are sure to spark fun while keeping your money from burning a hole in your pockets. This creates a win-win situation for everyone in the family.
