The Fourth of July is all about celebrating. Unlike other holidays where there is a huge emphasis on gifts, others, and the potential of offending people, the Fourth of July is about celebrating freedom, and embracing everyone’s rights to enjoy independence. The Fourth of July gives everyone the opportunity to celebrate the amazing step our Country made. With a holiday that specialized in celebrating, many people love to go above and beyond. Celebrations bring out the fun in everyone. Every once in a while you may feel the urge to go the extra mile by dressing the part. The Fourth of July can be a great opportunity to experiment with various costume ideas to add to the excitement of fireworks. Let’s face it; anytime someone is in a costume, the air is lighter. Costumes are great way to delve deeper into the holiday and enjoy the festivities.
One great costume for the Fourth of July is the American Flag. What better day to deck yourself in stars and stripes? Everyone will get what you’re going for, and you will encourage others to remember the roots of the holiday. Dressing like the American Flag can be very simple. Wear striped red and white pants, a shirt covered in stars and there you go! If that is too extreme maybe you would like to just go with a flag designed shirt. There is a lot of apparel on the market that caters to this design, so finding something you will be comfortable on should be pretty easy.
Another great Fourth of July costume would be Thomas Jefferson. Any excuse to wear a long white haired wig could be pretty hilarious. Don’t forget that the wig could get very hot and sweaty on your head if you are planning on spending the majority of your time outdoors. Adding a long dark robe, similar to what one would graduate in, would add to the affect you are going for.
Another costume to consider would be a firecracker. This costume would be fairly simple to make and fun to wear. Make a cylinder shaped outfit and tell everyone you are a roman candle. You would even make a hat with a fuse hanging off the top. This is sure to light up the party.
The important thing to consider is that costumes are meant to be fun. As long as you are enjoying your creative time, and celebrating one of the greatest holidays, then your costume party should be a huge success.
