Life was in danger, it was suffering from hunger
Two small kids, almost half dead on the road side
It was a hot summer night, dreadful was the site
I always say I love kids smiling, dancing and enjoying life at its best
But you have no food no shelter and no time to rest
Can you still smile as it looks the best?
I know you cannot, and so am I
Very choosy about my food, it all depends on my mood
Sometimes pizza from my favourite eating zone
Sometimes just cornflakes with milk half tone
Sometimes I will have fruits with ice cream
Sometimes just tea with some hot cross buns
I can do it as I have choices
But that day I heard that mute voices
Please don't waste the food
Please don’t be that rude
Please don't choose on your mood
If you will not waste we will get
We will thank you and you will have no regret
Hunger will be met and everyone life will be all set!

Poetry: Hunger
Blindly, I walk through the city streets of Atlanta
My eyes glazed over with visions not of you and your friends
Laughing
by Gary Maclean
A hollow forms deep, within my being
No satisfaction, does there seem
The cavernous, empty vacuum
The huge, echoing back room
"Street children"
Orphaned, hungry alone,
they ravage the garbage
Pillar through trash cans and waste,
Looking for one morsel,
One piece of bread a day
Was all I had
Sometimes, I would break it in half
Sometimes, I could make it toast
My children's bellies

Hunger
Guttural longing uncontrolled
Both night and day
Throughout the world
Searching, longing, growing old
Seeking protection
