Being in possession of very straight, fine hair, I was desperate to inject some volume and bounce into my neat, but boring locks. After reading about Aussie shampoo in a magazine, I saw it on sale and decided to give it a whirl after the description on the back made me smile.
I have a lot of hair (a whole head-full infact), but it is very fine and naturally straight. I usually have very short, feathered layers to make my hair look fuller, but my hair also grows annoyingly fast, leaving me with a couple of weeks hair I can't do anything with. My hair also seems to get greasy unfairly fast, meaning I need to wash it every morning.
The shampoo (and conditioner) come in a fairly plain, off-white bottle with the Logo and a mini description written in a nice, informal style. It looked good on my shelf, and the nice round bottle didn't slip and skid around like some do.
The bottles have flip-tops which need to be pressed down quite firmly to be opened. While this eliminates any spills or mess, it can also be quite fiddly to open when your hands are wet. I caught my finger in the hole and broke a nail once too (though that was my fault).
Now to the actual product itself.
The first thing that caught my attention was how nice the product smelled. With extracts of the Jojoba plant, the Shampoo has the gorgeous, fruity, summery smell that could rival anything by Herbal Essences. It really is lovely, and it filled the bathroom like a scented candle, remaining there for a couple of hours.
The product also lathers wonderfully, with the tiniest amount stretching incredibly far. I only needed a two-pence sized amount to transform into a beautifully bubbly soap, which left my hair squeaky clean and rinsed out easily.
After drying, I definitely noticed a difference in my hair - it really looked fuller and more bouncy than before. It also became less greasy, and I no longer needed to wash it daily.
However, the product is also slightly drying, and my hair needed a lot of conditioner and serum in order to keep it shiny (however, this may have been due to me over-washing it, which I have a habit of doing), Which resulted in the annoying dilemma of me running out of conditioner before I ran out of shampoo. It also made my dyed red hair fade faster (though this feels like an unfair criticism, since Aussie do have a range of care for coloured hair, which this shampoo really isn't intended for).
In all, I would consider buying the shampoo again if I ever choose to go back to being mousy brown. It left my hair clean, fresh and smelling delightful, and did exactly what it promised. It costs around £6 for a large bottle, and it lasts along time due to the tiny amount you need to use. If you have fine hair like me, make sure you stock up on conditioner and shine serum in case you over-use.
Adios!
