Its not the end of loving that hits so hard,
I really did love, I let down my guard.
To be dismissed as less than right,
Is what I was fighting with all of my might.
You said there was no love left,
A small realisation not leaving you bereft.
When the chips all came down and truth was out,
You turned tail and ran, gave in to your doubt.
There is always a way to work a solution,
The easy way is just a means of absolution.
To settle for less, you short change everyone,
You have only yourself to blame for it all when its gone.
What you have now, is a big empty shell.
To live without trust is a different kind of hell.
But this is what you get for playing it safe,
And these are the hurts we take to our grave.
I call you a coward, the very worst sort.
The kind who wants to be everyone’s port.
The problem with that is everyone loses,
These hurts don’t fade like ordinary bruises.
There’s a glimmer of hope for me at the close,
Its little enough in the grand scheme, I suppose.
I realise now I need a brave soul to love me,
Knowing this I can just let it be.
She will too realise this for herself, when she can think.
That a meaningless partnership carries a stink.
I hope she values herself highly too,
I wish you all well, I really really do.
