Staging a home can make a difference when selling a property during a buyer's market. The current economy has affected the real estate market drastically and there is a lot of competition in the housing market .There is a huge buyers market as home prices have declined and  many homeowners property values have decreased that many owe more on their mortgages than the current value of their homes.  Staging makes the seller's home stand out by giving the prospective buyer a preview of what a fully decorated home would look completely furnished.

Staging can help the buyer envision themselves living in the space by providing the buyer a prospective on how their furniture would fit in the space.  Many  which stage homes are decorators that create a beautiful space to sell the property by showing the space in the best possible light.  Depersonalizing the space is an important aspect in staging because by providing a neutral color scheme and a comfortable but generalized design style to the home it attracts a wide base of buyers. 

Reference Point for Buyers

Potential home buyers are seeking a home for various reasons usually as a long term investment and building equity and to live and start a family.  In many cases, a buyer will purchase as a rental property investment.  Staging provides a reference point when selecting furniture for the home by allowing the buyer to see the size of the furniture in the space and how their items would fit in the same space.  The home buyer will not buy a home if there is a misconception that the space is too small or their furniture may be too big for the space, by furnishing the space, the seller is eliminating the buyer's misconceptions.

Staging is important to sell the home by showing it as a beautifully decorated item for sale.  The same concept which would be used to sell a high priced item such as a car should be applied to selling the home.  Staging is making the property show like a beautifully decorated home that would appear in a Better Homes and Garden magazine cover.  If the seller was selling their car it would be washed, detailed and tuned up to make a quick sale, staging is one additional method to sell quickly. 

Staging is an important aspect in selling a property during this difficult and strong buyer's market.  By staging the home the seller's home stands out from the rest of properties being sold in the current market.  Staging is part of the real estate sales process because it can ultimately determine how long a property remains unsold or on the market for months.
