The original classic was made back in the 70's and it was a great one. Over the years the story has taken some turns with references to thurisaz - a rune from back in ancient mythology and Samhain- an old halloween tradition that I haven't read much on yet. I think that the pursuit of the Thorn angle in the story as in Halloween 6 did the strongest was a smart move on the franchises part for the mere fact that it was majorly different from what any other franchise or movie was doing.
I would have been interested to see how that played out. To say that Myers passed on his "curse" to others while he watched and waited to see if they succeeded or perished was such a unique look at it and definitely better than what they did was Jason in Jason goes to hell. It would have been interesting. The latest Halloween movies that have come out since 6 was H20 which was not that good due to the plot and lack of mention of the other films and Halloween resurrection which was dull and lacked substance.
Now they are making a remake/update/revamp of the original which is going to be made by House of 1,000 Corpses and Devils Rejects director and singer Rob Zombie. Now if you've seen those two movies or even his videos then you have the security in knowing that he is going to do a great job on this remake. We will have to see where Rob Zombie goes with his idea of Halloween. If you want to keep up with it check out www.upcominghorrormovies.com. It's a great website for horror fans.
I mean I am a huge horror fan. From Halloween to High Tension. I love them and I think that Rob Zombie has a unique enough mind to create a good Halloween movie that is dark and gory and better than 7 and 8. So far the best sequel in the series has been 6, even though they redid it when they should have left it alone but whatever. Whatever Rob has in mind for this movie I hope that he does not go far off the page with it and make it ridiculous, examples H2O and Resurrection.
Idon't think he would considering his other two movies were so well done but you never know. Keep an eye on this as it comes along. Some are condemning it to hell before it's even made or has a trailer. I for one am going to wait and see what Rob Zombie has in mind for this remake/revamp of the original. I have heard that it will focus more on Michael this time then the girls, which should be alright. I have faith in you Rob Zombie not to destroy Halloween and I hope you prove some hardcore Halloween fans wrong and make this one rock, otherwise, your movie career might be short.
Okay so now I have watched this movie and remake and I have to say that I think Rob Zombie did an amazing job on this movie. I recently bought the Unrated version of this movie and I highly recommend it to not only Halloween fans but horror fans and as an add on I think that this seals Zombie's icon potential in the horror industry. I am not really surprised that he made it in the horror genre after all I am a fan of his music dating back to White Zombie. Buy his movies now horror fans and be entertained.
