Poetry: Will he miss me?

You will miss me.

You do not know it now

Wouldn't conceive it anyhow

You won't feel the moment I slip away

You will probably go on with your day to day

But something will be missing

This heart that you're dismissing

A hug from a friend you never named

The wealth of feelings you never claimed

The smile from a once familiar face

An individual no one can replace

Despite all those that will follow

The authenticity rings hollow

You think you can live without me now

That I'm superfluous somehow

There are many others who fit the bill

But I promise, you will miss me still

A friend or a lover I clearly was not

I guess I knew I never had a shot

All I wanted was to be seen

As who I was, am, and all I could be

But the inner circle was reserved

A space inside I didn't deserve.

A face among the crowd of them

No voice to shout above the din

Though it may take years to know

After I find the strength to go

One day you will realize what's gone

So when another comes along

You won't make this mistake again

And lose out on a once in a lifetime friend

Because as I am, no one will ever be

And I promise you... you will miss me.
