'Why has Britney shaved her hair off?' Is what everyone is asking themselves at the moment after seeing the shocking pictures of Britney bald. I was truly shocked! But has this been building up for a while?

Britney released her first ever single in the summer of 1999, taken the chart world by storm with her hit single Baby one more time. This gave her the well deserved nickname of 'Princess of pop'. Vowing in several interviews to keep her virginity until she was married, she was a great role model to thousands of teenagers across the globe. But what went wrong?

Many people would argue that it was after her split with Justine Timberlake, former N-sync member, that everything 'went down the pan' for Britney. It was then that the public found out that Britney had lost her virginity and she highly criticized for this. We seen the much loved, southern 'good girl' turn rebel. Despite all this, Britney's albums continued to sell and many teenagers still loved the 'pop princess' virgin or not, Britney was still on top.

After the twenty four hour farcical marriage and annulment to her high school sweetheart, in Las Vegas, some people started to ask, "what is she playing at?" But many thought that this teenage rebellion would soon pass and we would have our old Britney back. When she married Kevin, some thought that was it. A match made in heaven, despite several people's claims that Kevin was only with her for the money. She had her two sons and was planning on making a new album for her comeback to the world of pop. Many thought it was a happy ending.

The news hit tabloids all over the globe, 'the breakup of Britney and Kevin'. Since then we have seen her stumbling out of clubs, with fellow 'party-girl' Paris Hilton. Several photos of her with no underwear on, clearly drunk was front page of 'every' newspaper. Obviously her marriage breakdown with Kevin must have really hit Britney hard. With Kevin having custody of their two sons must have been a double blow. Then we hear of her shaving her hair off and smashing up Kevin's car. An act of someone attention seeking? Maybe, but i personally believe that it's not publicity that she wants, it's help.

Us, the public have watched the young girl on our screens and radios everywhere, turn into a young woman. Is this the problem? The paparazzi has watched Britney's every move and dissected everything shes said in interviews and over the last few years have highly criticized her. Is this the way for a young girl to grow up? I don't think so! No wonder she's rebelling, i would be too! The world has seen her children being taken away from her because she's 'an unfit mother'. No wonder she's acting crazy, that's hard enough for a normal mother, without having thousands of people watching it.

I know many people will disagree with my point of view, arguing that the paparazzi and criticism is part and parcel with fame, and yes, in some ways i do agree. But when people's lives our ruined by it, is it still OK? I think Britney deserves a well deserved break from the limelight, and the paparazzi should leave her alone. She needs time to sort herself out without worrying what the world is going to say, it's too much pressure for a young girl. I wish her a full, speedy recovery and all the best for her future. Hopefully she'll be back with a number one album and back on top again. We all love you and are routing for you Brit.
