Whether you prefer the popular cut-away monokini (one-piece suit with fabric strategically cut out), the cut-away bikini, or the one-shoulder bikini or monokini, several hot bathing suit brands stand out this summer season.

* Agua Bendita.  Agua Bendita bathing suits mix innovative craftsmanship such as laser cut technology with Columbian handicrafts, embroidery, and unique and colorful fabrics.  These showstopper suits are in high demand due to their sophistication and universal appeal.

* Badgley Mischka.  Taking inspiration from formal evening wear, Badgley Mischka bathing suits are extremely feminine and flattering on many figures.  Featuring both jewel tones and more neutral shades such as black and gray, some suits incorporate stone and bead embellishments.  Many of these suits are flattering for full figured women as there is more roominess in the bust area. 

* Betsey Johnson.  Think flirtatious, feminine, and fun and you’ve described the Betsey Johnson 2010 bathing suit line.  These suits are a unique mix of punk rock and leopard prints that draws on both the 50s pinup and 60s modern style.  Polka dots, bows, and ruffles are prevalent, as are the colors pink, turquoise, and black.

* Despi.  Following current clothing trends, Despi’s 2010 line features neutral tones as well as shades of deep purple and copper.  Since its inception, this Brazilian designer has created a stir for unique detailing in bikini tops, hand crafted embroidery, and gold accents.

* Lady Lux.  This relatively new West Coast based swimsuit line is characterized by halter tops, bikini bandeau tops, and its durable construction.  Many of the bandeau and halter tops feature beautiful stone embellishments at the neck, some of which resemble necklaces.

* Maaji.  These bathing suits bring the runway to the swimming pool with sophisticated, feminine one-piece and bikini bathing suits.  Since 2002, this Columbia designer has created products for the fashion-conscious woman who isn’t afraid to wear something a little different.

* OndadeMar.  This bathing suit brand has graced the covers of many fashion magazines and continues to impress women of all ages.  Its sub-brand, OndadeMar Vintage, blends pre-released fabrics with modern styles, and is designed with youth in mind.

* Phax.  Blending comfort with elegance, the Phax 2010 line features a variety of cut-away monokinis as well as bikinis.

* Sabz.  The Sabz brand includes two lines – Sabz Luxury and Sabz Swimwear – both of which tout rich European and Brazilian materials.  The 2010 Sabz Luxury line centers on gold, bronze, and turquoise pairings and the Sabz Swimwear line features everything from floral prints to stripes.

* Vix.  Since 1998, Vix luxury Brazilian-cut bikinis have been popular on beaches worldwide. 

With so many brands to choose from, it is possible to find a suit that fits your unique sense of style and body type.
