Green living is the new way to live. With recycling becoming a staple in households, storage becomes an issue. With separate containers needed for paper, plastic, glass, and aluminum people are seeking not only practical storage solutions but also stylish ones.
Trash cans. Trash cans come in many shapes, sizes, and colors. They are also easily customized and easy to clean. One could spray paint the outsides of trash cans to incorporate them into the existing color scheme of the room they will be residing in. This keeps them from sticking out like a sore thumb. No one really wants to see a bunch of trash cans filled with recyclable material sitting against the wall like an afterthought.
Obviously if you love to recycle you have passion for the subject, so let that carry over into your storage options. Large canvas bags. The benefits to this container are handles and the ability to be easily carried. Canvas bags are also easily cleaned. Once you have made the recycling drop off, through them into the washing machine. This container option gives you a large flexibility in the design of the bag, as well as the placement.
You could hang the large bags in the garage on hooks, with label signs above each bag. Choose containers that compliment your lifestyle. If you are a gardener at heart look for oversized planter boxes to store your recycling in. You could also look into building your own recycling bins out of wood, and then decorating however you wish. Some decorating options could be wallpaper and paint. The more personal your bins, the more you will enjoy them. This will make you doubly happy while you are saving the Earth.
Another great way to enhance recycling containers is by using labels. This will aid in helping young members of the family place materials in the correct container. The truth is almost any container could be used as recycling bins. The containers can be as simple, creative, or colorful as one wants. When searching for containers to house recycled products make sure you check to see how easy it is to keep the container clean. You do not want to purchase a product that is difficult to clean, and houses germs easily. Not all recyclable products are mess free, especially when dealing with children. They may forget to rinse out their soda bottle before throwing it into the bins.
The main thing to remember is, as long as products are being recycled, the containers are just there to compliment the process.
