Is it always easy to treat others as you wish to be treated?

I would venture to safely say that it is not easy (at all) to treat others as you wish to be treated; if for no other reason than the simple fact that everyone does not communicate on the same spiritual and/or intellectual level.  We’re living in times where folk are void of trust, and are just not that receptive towards one another anymore.  And, that’s unfortunate.

Furthermore, we live in a society that is threatened and strained in many ways; and, folk respond to those threats and strains differently.  The current state of the U.S. and global economy (for one thing) has dictated certain mindsets and behaviors that may not have been present prior to 9/11/2001…forcing many to change their attitudes, emotions and course of actions where their futures are concerned.  Folk are trying their best to live a normal life during very tense times.

Unemployment is still on the rise, households are still growing, and the cost of living is continuously rising; not to mention the fact that the U.S. has been at war for a very long time now.  The scenario we’re in the midst of is very different…even from what was considered ‘times of unequal distributions of wealth’ during The Great Depression of the 1930’s.

It’s clear that history (indeed) repeats itself.  Nothing is always easy, and there will always be moments of ‘give and take’ and of great sacrifice.  Read Wikipedia’s account of The Great Depression.

Lastly…everyone does not respond to change in the same manner.  And, it’s not always an easy task to give or receive empathy in climates where folk fail to recognize the need to change the way they think about ‘change’ in order to accommodate situations they may be faced with...individually and collectively.

In my opinion…what this subject actually boils down to is the fact that upcoming generations lack the education, respect and will to sincerely display care and concern for their fellow man, and have been allowed to create these ‘deadlocks’ that ultimately affect everyone as a whole.

Priorities are misplaced, the quality and standards of living are less than favorable, and it doesn’t seem to be getting any better.

Let’s face it: times have definitely changed, and will always change.  People, institutions and the laws create the climate for all of us.  Parents, Boards of Education, government policies and Judicial Systems have supported these changes down through the years…making it very difficult (if not impossible) for us to treat others as we would hope to be treated.
