There are two absolute, unquestionable truths regarding our existence:

1. We are going to die and we don't know how

2. We don't know what will happen after we die

Speculation abounds as to what happens after we die. Masses of people gather under blanket beliefs, each group having their own. Wars are started, people slaughtered in the name of what one group believes is the truth.

What is the constant here? Every group believes it is correct- that it knows the real truth, and everyone else is wrong. But everybody can't be right, so at least one group of believers out there is wrong about being right. Which one? Is anybody right? There's no way to say, which leads me to another constant- nobody knows for absolute sure. We can have theories, we can even have evidence that backs up our theories. Unexplained phenomena that defies everything we know to be right and true. But rarely is that evidence concrete, it's usually based on hearsay, and one set of believers can blow a theory out of the water with contradicting beliefs that we just can't say for sure is right or wrong. Unless we experience strange phenomena first hand, we're never sure that somebody isn't making it up. Maybe they aren't, but I can't say for sure unless I see it with my own eyes.

Okay, so we have one more constant when it comes to the real truth of our existence: we don't know.

Two theories can follow that. We aren't meant to know, which would suggest that there are greater things we don't know about, OR, there is nothing else.

So where does that lead? I am going to venture a theory that we aren't supposed to be wasting our time with it. If we were supposed to know, wouldn't it be clear as day? If we were supposed to know the meaning of our existence on this planet, everybody would be on the same page. There would be no fighting over who is right, because everybody would know the truth. We wouldn't be trying to manipulate each other, making laws about right and wrong, because there would be no confusion over what was right and wrong.

I've read so many books, talked to endless people about their beliefs and theories, gone off on my own truth-spewing tangents, cried out over my confusion with it all, questioned endlessly why things happen as they do, why my life is the way it is, but I never get any answers that satiate my need to know. It's been so painfully obvious- I was so busy searching for answers that I didn't see the answer was there all along: we aren't supposed to know.
