In order to understand the Tea Party movement, one must understand the meaning behind the original tea party, the one that took place in Boston Massachusetts. The American colonies were being taxed to death by the British thrown, so one night a few of them went down to the Boston Harbor, climbed aboard a ship, and dumped a ton of tea into the harbor to show their anger with the Queen, and her cohorts.
The Tea Party of our present day is in some way's similar to the original tea party in that Angry Americans are protesting their Government's over taxing, and over reaching policies that pose a threat to the freedom we all enjoy. Yes it is a good thing when Americans gather together to speak their mind, and disagree with their elected officials. These elected officials seem to have forgotten that they work for us the people, not for themselves, or for liberal special interests, and they need to be reminded of that fact.
People from all walks of life, and different political parties comprise the Tea Party movement. People who are angry and upset with Government as a whole, and people who either did not vote for Obama, or are now sorry they did. These individuals are from all walks of life, all socioeconomic levels within our society, and have different tones of skin. It's not all just a bunch of angry, rich, white people as some would have us think, these are freedom loving American's from every walk of life.
NO they are not violent, and NO they are not tossing tea into the reflection pool on the mall in D.C. They are gathering to speak up, to stand up for their civil rights as American's, rights that the current administration would love to take away if they could. Obama and the Democrats are working hard to pass laws that limit our free speech, and freedom of religion. why they talk about creating jobs, and boosting our economy, they are trying to pass a package of environmental laws that will result in thousands of American's being put out of work, losing their only means to support their families, and put food on the table.
We just witnessed a democratic controlled ram rod the Obamacare bill straight through Congress against the will of the American people. If that does not send a major chill up and down your spine, it should, because that Health Care bill is not about reform, but about social control over yours and my health care.
