How to ensure waking up to start the day happy

Waking up happy begins with you. How you view things and what you do or don’t do in your everyday life. Many people these days suffer from depression for a wide variety of reasons and they often seek help from their doctors in the form of pills. The use of anti-depressants is wide spread but in many cases aren’t the solution, not really.

First, you may need to take a good long look in the mirror. How do you view things? Is your focus to the negative or positive? Are you overwhelmed with life in general or a particular tragedy that has occurred? Do you think about all the things you can’t do? It maybe time to adjust your attitude. I have never been the happiest person around and in fact have at times visualized choking those who wear a perpetual smile and always seem happy. It has only been over time and with experience I have realized that one can choose to be happy or one can choose to be unhappy. Yes, it is a choice and you can if you have chosen to be unhappy, change your choice.

Even when things are going badly in life, and it will for all of us, through out our lives, it is up to you how you chose to view events and how to deal with them. Being proactive in your life will tend to boost your mood even in the worst of times. What can you do? If you can take an action to change the situation then do so. If there is nothing you can do, then you may have to accept that. Leave it in the hands of those who can. You can not change people but you can change yourself and what you allow people to do to you.

You may need to change how you take care of yourself. Are you eating a healthy, balanced diet? Getting enough sleep? Getting any exercise? It could be time to change those things. In a bad relationship? A dead end job? You may not be able to change things overnight but you can begin to take steps toward improving your life and making yourself happier.

Five years ago, I was miserable and my life was not worth living. I had to refocus in many aspects of my life, stop being overwhelmed by what I could not do any more and start looking for what I could do. Making small steps and adding to my list of things I could do as I went. This changed so much in my life that today people would never recognize the woman I was five years ago.

While you are changing what you don’t like in your world, be sure to stop and take notice of those things you do like. Appreciate those you love and who enhance your life, even if its in a small way. As you look for
