It stings, it is bitter, it feels like a knife in your heart. Books, plays, screenplays, so many works of art planted by the seed of betrayal. It can come in any shape or form. But usually comes when you least expect it from a person you trusted the most. How it shapes ones character, it changes someone from within, once the reality of a betrayal sets in. What causes someone to betray someone they love and trust? Is it the angel versus the demon, whispering in ones ear? How does one go about making the choice to in fact BETRAY?
There have been many tales told, but to what extent will someone go with a betrayal that just doesn't end. Hearts shattered, broken homes, friends choosing sides, where does it end when a spouse makes the decision to cheat? The ultimate betrayal.
There was this one couple who seemed to have it all; money, looks, two beautiful children, a beautiful home, nice cars. But how full was their life really? They were high school sweet hearts, and had been together so long they were actually referred to as one person.
Not in a Brangelina condescending way, but of an utterly endearing way, that people actually viewed them as the same person. The husband, well he was as thoughtful and caring as any husband could be. The wife, well she was a character of another variety, sugary sweet to speak to, so sweet it would make you sick.
Always wearing the most expensive of all designers, always dressed head to toe in the best. Her husband would do anything for her, when she said jump, he jumped.
For 15 years it had been that way, her subtle control dominated his entire exsistance, he was a broken man unbenounced to him. When the day came that he learned of her betrayal with his best friend, should it had been a surprise?
How well did he really know her and how can you trust someone you do not in fact know? I suppose it wasn't the worst thing that she had cheated, and with his best friend. But the fact that their 2 year old son was having open heart surgery amidst this lurid affair. How low can one stoop.
To not only betray their love, their husband, but to do it when their own child is most vulnerable and needs his mother's hand in heart. Despicable seems to nice a word to describe such an act. How terrible the husband must have felt to learn of this miss trust, knowing his innocent son was abandoned by his own Mother when he needed her most.
He left her when he found out, he could never look into her eyes again with out seeing a monster. The ultimate betrayal.
