The importance of honoring your vows is a matter taken too lightly and in many cases not really thought about.
Before you stand up before God, your family and friends, or if it's only you and your mate-to-be, you need to have a full understanding of the vows you are about to commit too.
You need to know the meaning behind each word you are about to proclaim to your soon to be partner. How can you honor something you know absolutely nothing about.
Repeating words you don't understand, really have no merit to them. If you write your own vows, are they heart felt and the meaning behind them understood. Are they words you'll be able to honor and live up too in the marriage.
In traditional vows, have you given thought and understanding to what those vows truly mean. Honoring your vows in marriage is honoring your commitment you've made to one another.
It's important to know what it means to, " to have and to hold, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, and promise to be faithful until death parts us".
To keep a marriage honorable, it is important to honor your vows. The importance of honoring your vows is to keep a marriage strong. If you have an understanding of the vows you take, the importance of their meaning, the better chance your marriage will be filled with love, respect, and survive in this age of divorcing at the drop of a dime.
The importance of honoring your vows is the very essence of marriage. Doesn't matter if you've written your own or reciting "traditional vows" Each should be taken seriously and with the utmost knowledge of the words spoken.
So many couples today get caught up in the excitement of preparing for their wedding, what will the bride wear, what color should the bridesmaid dresses be, is the groom wearing the traditional tux, what band do we get for the reception, choosing the cake, etc.... Take the time you take in preparing for the wedding and sit down and discuss your vows. The wedding (in most instances ) last for a day, but your vows are forever.
The importance of honoring our vows is simple, honoring our vows we honor our marriage, our marriage mate and the sanctity of marriage.
