Although the producers of American Idol have been pouring their heart and soul into attempting to keep American Idol from becoming lackluster, the fans have begun to die away after the previous couple seasons. One of the main reasons for this is because of the lack of spice and variations in the seasons. Yes, the judges have changed, with the addition of Ellen Degenerous and the cut of Paula Abdul, but each season has seemed to start to fade into the others.
The focus of American Idol is to produce stars out of ordinary singers. One thing that you cannot argue is the fact that American Idol has produced a large amount of stars. With singers such as Carrie Underwood, David Cook, and, more recently, Adam Lambert, there have been a multitude of American Idol finalists that have made it big in the music industry. For this reason, it is difficult to resist American Idol, as you are virtually watching the birth of the next superstar.
One reason that American Idol has been lower in fan ratings is the lack of progression. With a handful of other television shows that simply become more exciting and diverse with each episode, American Idol has seemed to fall into the crowd. However, since it is one of the only singing competition television shows, it has remained as a forerunner for many seasons. It can safely be said that the avid fans of American Idol will continue to watch with every season, and the common viewers will start to die away.
When considering what American Idol could do to increase ratings, there are simply few options. They seem to have a great setup with their judges and competition setup. However, fans haven't been overly impressed over the past years. With speculations that Simon Cowell will be leaving and starting a new show, there are fears that a move like that would cause a complete collapse. Simon is one of the main reasons that American Idol is such a hit.
In all, there are many reasons for fans to become tired of American Idol. However, there is an immense amount of avid viewers that will continue to watch American Idol for years to come. There are many changes in American Idol, but many Americans haven't been impressed. One of the primary reasons that American Idol would fail is from the loss of Simon Cowell. In all, American Idol will continue to be followed by their biggest fans, but will slowly continue to fade into the crowd of television shows.
