First of all, no one person should be told that they can not decorate there public area in which they work or live. I think many people see it as an insult, but there also just as many that agree with the right to have a display of whatever you choose. Grant it people may take offense, but how many people are offended by others who don't decorate there houses.
I put things out on my yard and on my door for the holidays that approach and find nothing wrong with it. I think that telling an office that they can't display something of what most of the people in there building believe in then it should be allowed. It should really be left up to the building or office where the "public" property is there. I think people think its not fair but no one is telling them that they cannot display there religious beliefs or display there holiday items out there as well.
In fact, I would be encouraging it because it would show more unity among people that work there. It would also show that they don't discriminate against any one religion or holiday. Did you know that you are not allowed to tell people merry Christmas when you work at Walmart yet that is the only day throughout the whole year that Walmart closes for? This is my point. You don't have to offend people by showing your true colors, but allowing every one to participate in there own holiday or public display would keep the commotion down.
Let me give another example: My high-school wanted to have church services provided by a baptist church in the area. Now, there was a teacher who objected to it, but they informed him that no one was telling him that he couldn't have an anti-church service for whatever reliegion he was with. You have to understand that people do no see it as invading there they just don't do anything to show others that they have them.
That is this whole point. You take the ability of someone to post or hang holiday items out on the street then you get others who may be against the holiday to stand out and say something for it because you have infringed upon there right to post or hang there stuff out there as well. Get over it. It's not like there needs to be a law for everything that we do. The reason that we came to America was to have freedom from persecution and if you do this then infringe upon that same freedom.
