Why is the year 2012 so widely discussed, and why are people afraid of it? There are many reasons as to why a lot of people believe the world is going to end in the year 2012, but all of these are based on non-related evidence that is related to the year 2012 in general. The primary source of so-called "evidence" are the Mayans. The Mayans were an ancient civilization who designed a large calendar that dated thousands of years after their existance. For some "strange reason", they ended their calendar on December 21st of the year 2012.
Why could they possibly have done that? Let's look at the facts. The Mayans went extinct, therefore there was no one left to continue building their calendar, which would mean that it had to have ended somewhere, and it just so happens to be December 21st of 2012. Other evidence that suggests major changes in the year 2012 may be portrayed on both a physical and spiritual level. Many theories have been suggested as to what may happen in the year 2012, but almost none of them suggest the end of the world. This decade, in perticular, has a lot of new trends and evolution in both technology and the psychology of the human mind. The things we have begun to depend on, such as the internet and cell phones are changing people. Certain economic and marketing aspects of society may get involved in the year 2012, for unknown reasons.
On a more serious scale, on December 21st of 2012 there will be a galactic event that will occur as an alignment of our sun and the center of our galaxy, which is usually referred as a black hole. The sun will not look any different on that day, therefore visually, it is not a unique event, but it is highly unique because it only happens once over thousands of years. This event was also predicted by ancient Meso-American people such as the Maya, the Aztec, Toltec and Olmec, who proved to have had knowledge of our universe on a level that cannot be explained. This phenomenon that will occur in the winter of 2012 was accurately predicted by these ancient civilizations, and the end of the Mayan calendar is simply a coincidence... or is it? It is true that the Mayans went extinct and couldn't have continued their calendar, but was it a coincidence that it stops on the same day as their extraordinary prediction of a galactic alignment with our sun?
Just like many other end of the world predictions, the year 2012 will pass by fast and quickly. Even so, the events that will occur during the winter of 2012 will be remembered for a long time afterwards, because the world will not cease to exist.
One primary reason as to why the 2012 conspiracy is proving to be false is the planet Nibiru (also known as Planet X). This so-called "planet Nibiru" was supposed to be visible by the naked eye from a certain part of the world by the beggining of the year 2009, and we are into the year 2010. No reports of any such phenomenon have been recieved, and many people have even gone and returned in a quest to seek the truth about planet Nibiru. It is safe to say that the entire 2012 conspiracy was a way of selling books, movies and even advertisements, and that is exactly what it has done.
