Poetry: Change

by E Kuzmenko

Created on: May 03, 2010

So now the dandelions are mellow with dew

the grass is sweet with the last rain

the earth moist with tears of nature

the sky so mysterious but sure

of the lies that we kept in our hearts

and knew the truth that was locked away

i shrink away to where you won't see me

and wish that you would find me

linger to the unmade closeness of that night

the mound of sheets that you left written

all the notes that we played on our chords

lightly spoken and easily broken

was the loss of our romance

bitter morning coffee from the hungover night

of drunken love we shared but took for ourselves

as if pleasure was the only connection

my dearest you left me with none

and i see the frosted windows open like tulips

to the light of the morning and reminisce

on the path your precious feet walked

and into my door they made their way

praying i want to stay but

knowing you wish me away.

the change. it happened.
