Who among us has not rushed home while having a fantastic time at a party or gathering, because we have to go to work on Monday? Monday mornings have gotten a bad rap for several reasons. However instead of itemizing the negative, I'll highlight the positive things you can do to keep Mondays in check.
On Friday make to-do-list for Monday. The fact that is that we often dread the process when it comes to Monday. Meaning the process of getting starting, trying to piece together what happened last week and sort through loads of emails to find out what’s due. If you have a simple to-do-list, you’ll alleviate this stress and won’t dread going in without a game plan on Monday.
Learn to view life as a gift. Do you know how many people are ill and can’t work or hurt with every movement. If you don’t, you’re one of the lucky ones. Whether you like your job or not, get up on Monday with a verbal “Thank You” to God and it will change your mind set. You’ll be thankful for another Monday where you’re an able-bodied man or woman able to actually earn money in this horrible economy.
Change your physiology. Did you know that if you smile even when you feel back you will start to feel better? This is not hocus-pocus. Try it and you’ll see. The mind doesn’t know the difference in this physical change being real or imaginary. So when you get up on Monday smile. You might even laugh at yourself after you do it. Then when you walk into your office smile. Smile at your enemies and those back stabbing co-workers. Make sure it’s genuine and it may make your day better than imaginable.
Lastly if Mondays are bad for you because you're overwhelmed; ask for help. If you're certain that no one at your place of employment will oblige, you can hire a virtual assistant on a project by project basis. Again, you'll have to pay a small fee, but you won't have to hire your assistant until and unless you feel swamped. How many Assistants out there have said to themselves that they also need an assistant?
Doing these few things can make Mondays less daunting. You may even start to view it as a chance for a new start, new habits and a great work week. Mondays can truly be what you make them.
