Essays: Death of a loved one

The death of a loved one is never easy. I have had many people in my family die and each one was different. The death of my maternal grandmother, though, has been the hardest for me to take.

She was my rock. No matter what happened she was always there for me. She loved me unconditionally. I always strived to make her proud of me. Her opinion of me mattered to me more than anyone else's. When she died, she took a big part of me with her.

For months I grieved and thought that I would never make it to the next day. Then I thought about all the things that I have because of my grandmother. I have courage, strength, and goals because of her. She would not want me to just give up and throw in the towel because she is gone. Because she loved me, I am stronger. Because of that strength, I can make it on my own. And, she would want me to.
