Highest paying jobs without a college degree in America 2010

While having a college degree is a great thing, not having one does not necessarily equate to being stuck in a nowhere job for low pay. There are 25 jobs in America that pay better than $50,000 per year that do not require a college degree. Granted, some do require training, but that training can come from various places like the military or even on the job.

Another thing to keep in mind is that in some cases these jobs can pay significantly higher with overtime and/or tenure. For sake of brevity, this list will be limited to the top six of particular interest. Unique type jobs being a celebrity bodyguard, professional athlete, thespian, etc... have been omitted.

6. Nuclear Power reactor Operator - $64,090

A nuclear power reactor operator responds to system or unit abnormalities. They identify the problem, take action to correct the problem, or recommend steps to the appropriate person to fix it. For the most part the job involves monitoring and operating basic systems as well as implementing start up and shit down procedures.

5. Computer Technical Support Specialist - $67,689

A computer technical support specialist provides technical assistance to computer system users. The job involves handling questions from clients and finding a resolution to their computer problem. This can be performed in person, online, or via the phone. The skills required are a knowledge of computer hardware and software, email, operating systems, software installation, word processing, and potentially other applications as required by the individual employer.

4. Storage and Distribution Manager - $69,898

A storage and distribution manager oversees all incoming and outgoing products, typically in a warehouse, and is charged with making sure everything coming and going is correct. They are further responsible for keeping it all flowing in a timely manner and knowing where all products in transit are at all times with a contingency plan in place should anything go wrong.

3. Transportation Manager - $72,662

Transportation managers oversee and coordinate all transit matters for a company. This entails products as well as people. They not only have to make arrangements for everything, but make sure those arrangements stay in place, have a backup plan, and that everyone, or thing, meets their connections. A transportation manager also has to be shrewd so that they can accomplish all of this within the confines of a budget.
