Organized religion is a very suppressive, very close-minded way of living. From all the corruption happening within Church walls to the extreme fundamentalist homicide bombers of Islam, organized religon continues to be the driving force of what is mostly wrong with the world. This religious extremism isn't new and isn't only middle-eastern, it's been going on throughout human history. Just look at the crusades, look at the burning of witches, look at the battles between Paganism and Christianity.
It's not that these religions started out as corrupt, blood-spilling organizations; it's that when something, anything, becomes that wide-spread and that powerful, greedy, violent, and corrupt people begin to infiltrate the ranks of these religions. How many times have we seen religious text twisted in order to benefit a person? How many people go to the confessional to atone for their sins only to do them again? Organized religion is anti-positive-progress and pro-stagnancy. Agnosticism has none of these horrific bounds or restraints.
Agnostics always seem to be a spiritual bunch of people, much more so than those in, say, Christianity. Agnostics do see everyone as equal, do believe in a higher intelligence, do see a connection between all people and things, and do seem in awe of everything happening around them. They're not bound by what is or is not a sin (Gluttony a sin? Are you kidding me?), they don't let religion get in the way of who they can or cannot love, they don't have religious texts which they warp to their own benefits, and they're not nearly as judgmental as Christians are. You're never going to hear "I'm going to pray for you." from an agnostic, when you don't agree with something they say - that's Christian condescension. You're not going to hear "I was saved, and you ought to save yourself too" from an agnostic - that is also Christian condescension. You're not going to see agnostics thumping religious documents, because, well, we're free-spirited and we're not tied to that. We're not going to try to shove our beliefs down your throat, but if you want to speak to us, we're more than open to it.
Everyone in the western world pictures Jesus' father, "God", as Gandolph from Lord of the Rings. The old, white wizard with the long beard and magical staff, dressed in long, flowing garb. Kind of like an older, more powerful version of the man Jesus himself - yes, the man. But wait, is there even any concrete evidence that
