America's Next Top Model cycle 14, episode 8 review

Created on: April 29, 2010

Angelea, Krista, Alasia, Jessica, Raina, and Alexandra – the final 6 on America’s Next Top Model Cycle 14 boarded a plane and landed in the stunning country of New Zealand. Last week, the model’s photo shoot got hairy – literally – and Anslee was the weakest of the girls and was sent home.

As soon as the girls landed in New Zealand, they received a wild welcome and were immediately sent on go-sees. They each had 4 ½ hours to go on 6 go-sees – be late and be eliminated from the challenge. Only 3 girls made it back in time and it was Angelea who won the challenge. She was able to make all 6 go-sees and get back in time. And in case you are wondering – yes, Alasia was one of the girls who was late and disqualified from the challenge.

This week’s photo shoot placed the models outdoors with the gorgeous New Zealand landscape as their backdrop. They also had “Prince” to model with which was one massive and wooly sheep. The models wore stunning gowns which they had to control in the wind while giving the photographer, Nigel Barker, everything they had.

The judges gave their critiques of the photo shoot. Raina was amazing. She worked the garment and rather than just giving a photo, she told a story. All of the judges were impressed with Raina. Alexandra did not fare well on the go-sees but she was impressive during her photo shoot. The judges put her photo as one of their favorites. And Krista blew everyone away – she was convincing, solid, and she not only wore the gown, she sold it. Tyra remarked that Krista portrayed a “tornado of loveliness”.

Angelea may have won the go-see challenge but she failed miserably on the photo shoot. Perhaps her attitude or over-confidence got in the way but she was a least favorite. Also criticized for their photo shoots were Jessica and Alasia. As usual, Jessica is said to be too commercial. It almost appeared that Alasia gave up.

Jessica and Alasia wound up in the bottom two. While Jessica is a beautiful girl, she may not have what it takes to compete in high fashion and Alasia has lost any spark she may have had early on. After the judges deliberated, they made their choice and Alasia was sent back to America. The favorite photo for the second week was given by Krista and Alexandra’s photo was the runner-up.
