Poetry: The thorns of wisdom

by Alexi Mccreedy

Created on: April 29, 2010

Broken dreams created by promises laid bare,

From one man's lips to another man's ear,

For honesty is one thing that can cut and tear,

No lies for protection can unleash that fear,

Your back exposed and no armour to wear.

For they always said that ignorance is bliss,

So what will it always come down to,

When pearls of wisdom will bring you to this,

Better to live in the dark, not the worst thing to do,

For an angels blessing can also be be a black widows kiss.

The truth is a weapon, a double-edged sword,

It can set the trapped and broken man free,

Or can deliver his soul to a ravenous horde,

For when Eve took that apple from the forbidden tree,

Was it salvation or was she just pulling the bombs cord?

Is it not better to be blind and be saved from trauma,

Being full of life and desires and dreams to be fufilled,

Or will knowing the truth make you only a shadow of a former,

Will that knife cut the ropes or your neck to be killed,

Cause we all know the truth hurts.

Some times it is too much to bear.
