The importance of resistance training for women

Women more than men have issues with their weight. Weight is unimportant because it does not consider how your body is made up. For example if you look at a female athlete you will probably find they will way over 10 stone. This with most women would be scary but you would not say they are over weight.

When a female decides she needs to lose weight their are normal 2 options. The first is to diet, this doesn't work because you get to the weight you want to be if you can be strict enough. But once you have got to the weight you want you then go back to your original eating habits and then put the weight back on. So what I'm saying is look at your lifestyle and change that, i.e. amount you eat, physical activity level and fluid intake.

The other option is physical activity or exercise, of which the least favorite form is resistance training. This is because women thing they will become big and muscular if they weight train. This is untrue for two main reasons. The first is to do with the amount of testosterone in the body, this is a growth hormone for building muscle. In men their is a large amount of this and very little in women that why their is a major difference in the way the male and female bodies look. The other is that the weight can seem intimidating, and that they can't lift them.

Weight training for women is very important, this is because the weight bearing helps reduce the risk of developing brittle bones. Due to hormone changes in the female body after the age of 30 yrs the bones start to weaken, so by weigh training you can help to reverse this reducing the risk of fractures. The other reason is that by building muscle you reshape your body making the muscles thin and shaped, giving you a femine shape that you will crave. The other part to remember is that by building muscle you are also making your body more efficient. As every lb of muscle you put on helps burn up about an extra 50 calories. meaning your metabolism will increase allowing you to burn up more energy whee you are not exercising, which in turn will speed up the fat loss you are looking for. Another key factor to note, the more you can lift and better you are looking the more confident you will feel.
