How to write personal finance articles on Helium

by Cody Hodge

Are you looking to share your knowledge of financial information with the rest of the world? If this sounds like something you would like to do, you have come to the right place. While it seems everyone has some kind of financial information to share with the world, it has to come off in a certain manner in order to become something that people will believe and follow. Here is how you can get started writing finance articles.

The first thing you need to do is actually have some sort of experience with money. The best part about this rule is that it is easily applicable to just about anyone. Have you ever dealt with money? Chances are that you have in the past and so you are going to be rewarded for that information with some quality articles. Make sure though that you have the experience to back it up as it would lead to better articles.

When you are writing a finance article, you should always mention that there is not any situation that applies to anyone. There should be some disclaimer somewhere that says you should consult a professional if you have any questions. For example, if you say that someone should save 5,000 dollars a year, you might also say to save whatever you can.

This means you have to be good with discussing concepts well. You need to be able to talk about sometimes complex issues with ease. Talking about compounding interest rates might sound like a complex issue, but you need to explain what compounding interest is and where your readers can read more about that subject.

While most articles should be written magazine style, it might not be a bad idea to actually give sources for a finance article. Unless you are an expert in the field with a degree in whatever you are talking about, it stands to reason that you are doing your own research. It takes the liability off you and gives others credit for the work they have done if you give sources.

Writing financial articles is a lot of fun and can really make you an expert in the field. Just make sure to explain the concepts in an easy to understand way, and use your own personal experience to draw from. Realize that some situations don't apply to all people, and that citing your sources helps your build credibility.
