How to earn more money from blogging

by Sarah Vanessa Pineda

Created on: April 28, 2010

Quite a number of people, whether they are professionals with day jobs or those who are unemployed, often try to look for alternatives in making money. Two reasons for doing so are to earn funds for more savings or to earn for more expendable money. The Internet, albeit a virtual place, is one arena that offers potential in earning additional income. There are different opportunities offered by online companies, and paid blogging is one of the more known options. Quite a handful of these online companies offer to pay bloggers to write reviews about products, insert text links in the blog entries, or post site banners that direct to the advertisers.

The process is quite easy, with very few requirements such as a blog site and an online payment account, such as Paypal. More detailed requirements are provided, though a main requirement is the content of the blog itself – the topics covered, how long it has been running, and how frequent the blogger posts entries. Not all of the online companies require high page rankings, though of course it will not hurt if the blog enjoys high traffic and is linked in other websites. Some require that the blog should have its own domain name, while others accept blogs under Blogger or other blog sites. Word of caution though for Wordpress-hosted blogs: Wordpress does not allow paid blogging. Once caught, either the blogger is compelled to delete all paid blog entries (or at least remove links) or they can just delete the blog itself.

Joining is free on most, if not all, websites that offer these kinds of opportunities to bloggers. The earnings are quite competitive, though may or may not be as high as other online opportunities such as regular article submission. It is however, more rewarding than just clicking on website links as offered by pay-to-click websites. Paid blogging also has more personal freedom in terms of content and style of the blog posts compared to submitting articles for approval.

If blogging is a hobby then it should not be much of a problem earning from it. Some though refuse to do so for fear of losing the blog’s integrity. However, it should be noted that it is up to the blogger which assignments or opportunities to take and what category the blog is in. Regardless, paid blogging is another earning opportunity online that bloggers should consider getting into.
