Benefits and versatility of having long hair

People who have long hair are most likely already very familiar with the benefits and the versatility that comes along with it. Others, however, may not have ever had long hair in order to understand its versatility or they may have never had short hair in order to be able to appreciate the versatility of having long hair.

Having had short and long hair many times myself, and I know first hand the benefits and versatility or having long hair compared with having shorter hair.

Having long hair means more styling options for your hair, as even people who have never had long hair are usually aware of. Without any great effort, long hair can be pulled up into a ponytail, a bun or even braided, something not possible for short hair. Being able to pull up hair so easily makes it convenient when working out, gardening or cleaning, among other things, because the hair can be easily kept out of your face, whereas shorter hair cannot be fully pulled up with an elastic, meaning that you would need many bobby-pins or clips to keep it all out of your face.

Long hair also allows you to try many more fancy up-dos than shorter hair. This is why most brides choose to grow their hair for the big day, because they know that they will have more variety to choose from in terms of styles and up-dos.

As well, if you are having a bad hair day, pulling your hair back with an elastic or a few clips can easily solve that, whereas short hair cannot be manipulated and styled as easily. As well, even a bad hair cut can be masked when hair is long. Pulling up hair can mask bad layers or an uneven cut, whereas a bad haircut on short hair can be tragic, with little to do but wait for it to grow out.

Long hair can also be curled or straightened in a way short hair cannot. Curling hair that is quite short often makes hair end up looking excessively poofy and less than flattering. On the other hand, straightening short hair can make hair look too flat and boring. If hair is extremely short, straightened or curling hair may not even be possible.

Having long hair means you can style it in less time, easily keep your hair out of your face, and provides you with more styling options.
